Why do most restaurant POS apps charge monthly?+

Cloud POS vendors run servers and pay for support staff. Monthly fees pay for that. We're a custom-software shop — POS is a side product. We make money on custom builds, not subscriptions.

Is there really no contract or commitment?+

None. Download, install, use it. Stop using it. Delete it. Reinstall a year later. No license server, no expiry.
